A mysterious voice note is circulating on social media, raising serious concerns about irregularities in the Immigration department. These unverified claims have sparked significant unease in the public, as the idea of any official allegedly profiting at the country’s expense is deeply unsettling and demands immediate attention.
There has been a growing outcry about the suspicions in the immigration department. From work permit irregularities to questionable paths to citizenship, each issue poses a potential threat to our sovereignty, stability, and national security, underscoring the seriousness of the situation.
The big concern is that there is a perception that some immigrants have a Bahamian official in their back pocket, which is alarming. The thought of someone having the power that a high-ranking official must bow to their wishes is disturbing.
We know the aggressive attitude and nature of some individuals. They don’t play by our rules. They are stoned-cold hustlers who will stop at nothing to get what they want and circumvent all of the customs, norms, and traditions of the Bahamas. They are adamant about imposing their culture on us and have little resistance from us because we have accepted it, whether we know it or not. We drive like them now and entirely ignore traffic signs, markings, and traditions.
We have given them the bus system and also turned over Arawak Cay to them. So, it is not far-fetched to believe that there may be some truth to the voice note. While no one is accusing anyone of malfeasance, the accusation must be disturbing enough for the top brass in Immigration to launch an investigation immediately.
One only needs to camp out on Hawkins Hill and watch the Haitians going into the Immigration with gifts for the officers. With these bribes, are they being encouraged not to do their job or to expedite the application? Either way, it is unlawful for them to be able to do that. It has the scent of bribery.
How come the officials don’t know that this is happening? How come they have cameras and don’t see how dangerous getting lunch is? It is well known that money is moving around; it is just that we are not sure where.
If the authorities are worth their salt, they would check everyone and see who is depositing more than their salary. You may be surprised.
If the story on the voice note is true, then heads must roll. There is no room for ambiguity. The public expects the Immigration Department to conduct a thorough investigation and make its findings public, allowing for transparency and accountability.
Finally, all officers must know that any violation against the state is treason. If anyone is illegally giving documents to any foreigner, regardless, they should face the full brunt of the law and be shown publically. There should be no more office investigations while the perpetrators go home with a pension and a going-home party for breaking the law.
The Bahamian people need to know who is selling the country.
There is another storm brewing, and that is where a mole is present in the public relations department. Government information has been leaked by this gentleman who purports to be a professional and expert when, in fact, he is just there to gather information to report to the opposition. These speculations, too, need to be investigated. Let the chips fall where they may.
