As the FNM prepares to unveil their ratified candidates, a process of significant political importance due to its potential impact on the party’s future, the pressure on Hubert Minnis is palpable. Regardless of the FNM’s selection, the prospect of being the candidate for Killarney has triggered a wave of paranoia in him.
Minnis’s attempts at bravado have been ineffective. Michael Pintard’s bold actions have spoken louder than Minnis’s words. Pintard’s potential selection of Senator Michaela Barnett-Ellis as the FNM’s standard bearer has exposed Minnis’s bluffs. The party’s decision to move forward, as evidenced by the choice of the previous seventeen candidates, has further undermined Minnis’s confidence.
Caught in a whirlwind of uncertainty, Minnis desperately seeks a haven. Despite the lack of official boundary announcements, his attempts to escape to another constituency only highlight his desperation. His potential opponent, Shanendon Cartwright, adds to his formidable challenge, intensifying the drama of the political situation.
There are many moving parts because just recently, and sadly, Hubert Ingraham was hysterically looking for a home for Duane Sands, just like the boll weevil. So Sands and Minnis may soon be ‘homeless’.
So, paranoia increased considerably after Pintard played his card in Killarney with a straight poker face, which must have frightened Minnis the daylights out of him.
The FNM is a cauldron of high tensions, intensifying the drama and intrigue of the political situation. Word out of Minnis’s camp is that he may even move to Marco City, a potential strategic move to counter Pintard’s influence. These many different moving parts only add to the hysteria. The FNM would find no rest until after the election, when they would be rid of Pintard.
