Two days have passed since a Louisiana star baseball player allegedly went missing at sea after being dared to jump off a boat in the Bahamas. Cameron Robbins, 18, was partaking in a trip to celebrate his recent high school graduation in Baton Rouge when the incident took place. Despite extensive efforts, the Coast Guard has decided to call off the search, which covered an area of 325 square miles.

The 325-square-mile search for Cameron Robbins, 18, is plotted here.
Eyewitnesses reported that Cameron jumped overboard around 11:30 PM from the Blackbeard’s Revengesunset cruise ship, spurred by a dare. Lieutenant Commander Matthew Spado, the Coast Guard liaison officer to the Bahamas, provided an update stating, “In response to a request for assistance from our partners in the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, the U.S. Coast Guard District Seven deployed multiple search and rescue assets. Our Coast Guard command center and Miami-based aircrews supported the RBDF search and rescue efforts from Wednesday evening to Friday evening.”
In the latest development, the RBDF informed the Coast Guard that they are suspending the active search pending further updates. The Coast Guard, afternotifying the Robbins family, stated that they would no longer provide assistance. They expressed their deepest condolences to Cameron Robbins’ family and friends during this difficult time.
A GoFundMe campaign has been established to support Cameron’s family in their time of need. The campaign emphasizes the extraordinary qualities of Cameron’s mother, who is described as a compassionate and dedicated teacher currently facing an unimaginable situation. The fundraising page appeals to donors to contribute and spread the word to assist her and her family through this challenging ordeal.
Cameron, having recently graduated from high school, had participated in his commencement ceremony at Louisiana State University on Sunday before embarking on the ill-fated cruise with his classmates.
