The Bahamas has lost an icon and an extraordinary artistic talent with the passing of Stephan Davis, affectionately known as the “Airbrush Junkie.”
On behalf of the entire One Family Junkanoo organization, I extend our deepest condolences to Stephan’s family, friends and all who were touched by his remarkable life and work.
We are in shock and, quite frankly, lost for words.
Stephan was an innovator. He began making his name through his incredible airbrush work on T-shirts, but his imagination and talent could never be confined to one canvas. He evolved into a full-fledged artist whose exhibitions and creations captured attention far beyond the Junkanoo community. His work eventually found its way into the homes of the rich and famous.
Stephan dared to take chances. He went artistically where others were afraid to go, and somehow those risks often produced something spectacular. Few possessed his imagination, creativity and natural talent.
His connection to One Family was deeply rooted through Taylor Street, where his entire family became part of our extended family and contributed to our organization.
Stephan was also a wonderful spirit—always positive, always in a good frame of mind. He danced to his own music and followed his own artistic path.
We will miss the Airbrush Junkie immensely. His art, imagination and spirit will live on. Gone too soon. May his soul rest in peace.
