EDITOR GRADE: E
REASON: This member of parliament grade was the easiest to provide. Ms. Ferguson has to be one of the most underperforming honorable member to date. She has not made any substantial contributions to the House of Assembly nor public statements.
The constituency is currently plagued with violent crimes, yet Ms. Fergsuon has no made any notable announcements to bring the community together.
A simple google search is all that is needed to highlight her performance as a member of parliament.
Lastly, if the Free National Movement (FNM) is serious about holding onto Fox Hill in 2022, then the entire organization must unite around its embattled MP, Shonel Ferguson, who has hit a rough patch over the past 12 months with respect to her financial dilemma being played out in the public arena.
Position: Member of Parliament for Fox Hill
Shonel Ferguson was born in Nassau, Bahamas to Miriam Maude Pratt and Daniel Harcourt Ferguson Sr. After completing her early education at Sandilands All Age School, L. W. Young Secondary school and St. Anne’s High School she continued her studies at the University of Florida and the University of Miami where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree and Masters of Business Administration, respectively.
Shonel came to national prominence as a star athlete participating in the Carifta and Commonwealth games and qualifying for the 1976 Olympic Games. She holds one of the longest standing records in Commonwealth Games history, set in 1982 and unbroken until 2006, 24 years later. She is a member of the Bahamas Track and Field Hall of Fame and in 1983 was awarded an MBE by Her Majesty the Queen for her contributions to the Bahamian people.
Shonel was employed with Xerox Bahamas Limited and its successor Bahamas Copier for 17 years. Today she leads a company with three locations on Nassau and Paradise Island providing business equipment, and document-based services to hotel guests, international convention groups and the local market place.
