An investigation is underway following a fatal fire that took the life of a man in New Providence on Sunday, May 28, 2023. Early reports suggest that Fire Services were alerted to the fire around 12:30 a.m., which took place in a single-story duplex on Swordfish Drive, Stapledon Gardens.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered the duplex’s western unit fully ablaze. The fire was successfully controlled and extinguished by authorities. However, during the search of the property, they found an unresponsive male adult. Emergency Medical Technicians on the scene confirmed the man displayed no signs of life.
The fire’s origin remains uncertain at this time, but an active police investigation is in progress.
