Hon. Iram Lewis MP
Former Minister of Youth Sports and Culture & Minister of Disaster Preparedness, Management & Reconstruction Iram Lewis, who was one of the lucky seven Free National Movement candidates to be re-elected at the September 16th snap general election, has officially announced that he will be entering the leadership race on November 27th, 2021.
This decision by Mr. Iram Lewis came as no surprise as he has found the courage to become vocal against the man that gave him a political lifeline in the middle of their term.

Former Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis
On September 21st, 2019, former Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis promoted Iram Lewis from the backbench to the cabinet following the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian. Many supporters believed that decision gave Mr. Iram Lewis a slight edge to secure The Central Grand Bahama seat.
His most likely opponents at the FNM leadership conclave are Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis (current leader), Dr. Duane Sands, and Hon. Michael Pintard.
Many of the party members feel that the inclusion of Iram Lewis has just made the leadership race a bit easier for Dr. Hubert Minnis as he is drumming up support from council members behind the scenes throughout the family islands.
According to a prominent council member, Dr. Hubert Minnis has a proven cult-like following among other members mainly because he looked out for those who didn’t directly benefit from the Ingrahm Era.
He believes that the more ‘unnecessary jokey’ options on the ballot would only aid in the re-election of Dr. Minnis and the demise of The Free National Movement.
Behind the scenes, supporters are hoping that Mr. Michael Pintard and Dr. Duane Sands could unite and steer the party in the right direction towards a complete rebuild, which would hopefully begin the purging process from the Minnis cult followers.

Mr. Iram Lewis believes that despite the odds against him, he is the best option for the leadership post.
He considers himself to be a servant leader, willing to listen to all sides including dissenting opinions.
