Before casting a vote, every citizen should pause and ask a simple but powerful question: Why am I supporting the PLP? For me, the answer is grounded not in slogans or emotion, but in measurable results and tangible progress.
In just 4.5 years, the PLP has demonstrated a clear commitment to strengthening healthcare nationwide. Six new clinics have been built—none were built by the previous administration. Beyond that, 51 existing clinics have been upgraded, improving access and quality of care for thousands of Bahamians. The government also made the strategic decision to purchase a hospital and add two modular clinics to ease patient flow—practical solutions to real problems. These are not promises; they are accomplishments.
The economy tells a similar story. The creation of 30,000 jobs reflects a deliberate push to put Bahamians back to work and restore dignity through employment. Record-breaking tourism arrivals have fueled this growth, strengthening businesses and communities alike. At the same time, taxes have been lowered, food costs reduced, and electricity bills eased—providing real relief in the pockets of ordinary citizens.
Infrastructure development has not been neglected. Fourteen airports are currently under construction, laying the groundwork for long-term economic expansion and connectivity. This is forward-thinking leadership—planning not just for today, but for the future.
Workers have also seen meaningful gains. The increase in minimum wage addressed a long-standing need that had previously been ignored. Sixty labour agreements have been signed, ensuring better conditions and protections for workers. Civil servants have benefited from annual increments, the clearing of back pay, and long-overdue promotions and reclassifications—along with an additional $20 million in support. These actions demonstrate respect for the public workforce and a commitment to fairness.
On a broader scale, the country’s sovereign credit ratings have improved, signalling stronger economic management and increased confidence from international partners. Meanwhile, crime trends are moving downward, contributing to safer communities.
When you ask yourself why you support the PLP, the answer should be clear: progress you can see, policies you can feel, and leadership that delivers. This is not about rhetoric—it is about results.
