US Authorities arrested a woman who lives in a Bahamian town ravaged by Hurricane Dorian at Palm Beach International Airport last week after U.S. Customs officials pulled up a 6-year-old car theft warrant.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said authorities detained Sherrel Terez Roker, 32, on Friday. It’s not known if she had been in the Bahamas during Dorian, but the involvement of Customs means she was entering the United States.
PBSO said it did not know how Roker arrived, saying it got involved only after Customs detained the woman. A PBSO log said Customs told PBSO that Roker had flown in from the Bahamas. PBIA said no airlines flew in from there Friday but people might have taken private planes. A Customs spokesman did not provide information, citing privacy rules.
Roker remained in the Palm Beach County Jail on Wednesday, awaiting transfer to Broward County, where the warrant was filed.
